Students in the laboratory Philipp Schulte Students of the master program Applied Geography during the laboratory course

In our laboratory we carry out, in particular, physical and chemical analyses of soils and sediments as well as hydrochemical analyzes. Those support the development of a variety of research topics as well as teaching in physical geography.

Among other things, we are able to perform a particle size analysis with a laser diffractometer, to determine the elemental composition by means of stationary X-ray fluorescence analysis, to measure the carbon, nitrogen and sulfur content in samples, to quantify the carbonate content using a Scheibler apparatus, to use spectrophotometic analyzes and to produce preparations for microscopic heavy mineral analyzes.

In the laboratory a number of student assistants is employed and regularly practical courses are held there.
