What does that mean?
ECTS are credit points that measure the workload of one's studies. The teacher training Master's encompasses 120 ECTS, which are distributed among both subjects, education studies, the practical semester, DSSZ, and the Master's thesis.

Two subjects are also combined in Master's teacher training studies. The combination possibilities for the teacher training subjects are identical with those in the corresponding Bachelor courses of study.
Master's teacher training studies includes not only the two subjects but other elements as well:

Subject-Didactic and Practical School Studies
The curriculum for the Master of Education in Power Engineering is oriented towards professionalization as a teacher at a vocational school. A central component of studies is the practical period anchored in the first two semesters. Accompanied by subject-didactics and the education sciences, students complete a practical semester at a school. Aside from a university research component on a school, this practical component is shaped by the Zentrum für schulpraktische Lehrerausbildung and schools. Students develop lesson strategies and implement them. They also become familiar with practical demands in planning, shaping, and analyzing lessons within the framework of the vocation power engineering.
In the Master of Education students complete not only a practical semester but also acquire advanced power engineering technical knowledge, in order to be able to follow and evaluate the results of newer research and include new topics in lessons. A majority of the classes fall under the elective section, allowing students to determine their own focus. The course of study contains a variety of class types: lecture with tutorial, seminar, practical, project, and intensive course.
The academic requirements assigned to the "Faszination Technik" concept are completed as part of the "Projekt Leonardo." In this project students from all subject areas actively work together. The project is offered by two lecturers from different disciplines and focuses on a social challenge, such as climate change, energy, and globalization.

The Faculty has several international partner universities with which it has well-established links, such as collaborations in teaching and research as well as exchange programs such as ERASMUS+. Students continue the subject combination from the Bachelor teacher-training program. The small vocational concentration in power engineering can only be combined with the big vocational specialization in electrical engineering (course of study model 2). First University Degree
An initial university degree is required to begin studies. This could be a teacher training Bachelor in electrical engineering or another adequate academic degree. It is possible to have an initial degree from a university of applied sciences accepted as fulfillment of admissions requirements. The exact technical educational background required is summarized in the examination regulation. The examination board is responsible for determining if admissions requirements have been fulfilled.
In order to be admitted to teaching practice students must provide documentation of skills in two foreign languages. The university entrance qualification typically fulfills this. Students, who did not learn German as a native speaker and acquired their university entrance qualification in German, only need to submit proof of knowledge of one additional language.
Only one foreign language is required for students pursuing a combination with at least one professional subject for teacher training at a vocational school.

Academic Advising for all Students Changing Their Course of Study
Students may also need to catch up on additional work within the framework of practical or field studies, subject didactics, and technical studies. Students, who have not completed a Bachelor's degree in teacher training at RWTH Aachen, should contact the academic advising office of their desired teacher training subject.

Subject-Related Practical Training
Training to become a teacher at vocational school includes relevant practical training lasting twelve months. The subject-related practical training is not part of teacher training studies, meaning the twelve months are not included in the study period. The practical training must be completed before beginning the teaching practice period. The majority of the practical training should be completed before finishing studies. These Master's studies qualify students not only to teach but to work in the following fields:
- Scientific work at university, particularly in the fields of vocational education and subject didactics
- Human resources development and associations of vocational further and continued education (Kammern)
- Vocational training institutions and institutions for vocational rehabilitation
- Development of teaching and learning methods
